's an old cast iron corporate seal embosser stamp related to the Knights of Pythias (K of P) auxiliary group the Sisters of Pythias (Pythian Sisters), Muir Temple No. 123 of Sausalito, California. The seal die stamps with the following: "Muir - Temple - No. 123, P.S., Sausalito, Calif., Inst. Dec . 2, 1912, CREO, PLEF". The letters "PLEF" stand for Purity, Love, Equality and Fidelity. I stamped this into a tin foil piece and the embossing is nice and clear (not like my lousy photo may show). The base is made with cast iron and the top handle appears to be a hard steel metal. This is a well made and strong and sturdy seal (heavy too!). This stamp is in wonderful condition with NO rust. All the mechanics work well. As you can see, t's scattered paint chips/loss and the gold is rubbed in spots. The paint is NOT flaking off. NO metal cracks. This seal has been kept well over the years and will display well. The Knights of Pythias's women's auxiliary was the Pythian Sisters. It was proposed as an auxiliary in 1877 and was not recognized as an official Pythian organization until 1904.
