Royal No.5 Typewriter manufactured in 1912 by the Royal Typewriter Company at its factory in Hartford, Connecticut. This low profile and stepped keyboard were Royal's first (and only) attempt at a distinct industrial design, which has since been dubbed the "Flatbed". All of their other typewriters were very standard in appearance. At a price of $65, which was $35 less than its competitors, the Flatbed was a commercial success. Some keys stick Great patina. See pictures has done aging to paint I haven't done any maintenance. Found in my husband's grandfather's house. He was 102!! Not sure he had seen it in years. Flatbed design.
