The cover reads: The Missouri State Prison - FACTS - As Seen By A Convict - 1913 Souvenir Book 1914 - Containing The Truth About Everything - Price Fifty Cents - Written and Compiled by Convict No. 13,905 The pages are not numbered but this book has about 100 pages and measures about 6" x 9" in a red soft cover binding which lots of photos and detailed information about the Missouri State Penitentiary. The forward to this book indicates it was published by Convict No. 13,905 who is not otherwise identified for the dual purpose of supporting his wife and child while incarcerated and as a warning to others to stay out of prison. This book has lots of information and photos about prison industries that employed convict labor including the Star Clothing Manufacturing Company, The Economy Stay Company, The State Twine Company and others. This book has photos and information about the guards, the warden, chaplain and others associated with the Missouri State Prison as well as photos of prisoner in prison strips. This is really an interesting artifact of prison life from 100 years ago with some references showing different treatment for "colored" prisons versus white prisoners as well as numerous photos showing prison facilities.
