This 1/4-leather sketch book is falling apart, with the boards detached and the spine losing its grip on the text. However, the binding is of very little moment considering the quality of the art it has housed and preserved, apparently since 1903. This 4-1/2- by 7-inch work comes from the estate of Ralph H. Turner, Emeritus Professor in Sociology at UCLA, and according to the Encyclopedia Britannica, the co-author of Collective Behavior. I'm guessing he also authored the note describing the contents that you see in the second frame of the gallery, to wit: "Sketch Book--Herbert Turner--Ilfracombe sketches; Antique/period Furniture, Victoria & Albert Museum; China: Shanghai Sketch--door; Landscape 1903-1913" I quickly counted about 55 pages with drawings, not including some few pages of handwritten text only. Please refer to the gallery for a sense of the quality and condition. I find no dampstain or other issues with the contents, other than that the leaves threaten to come loose from the weary binding. I'll ship this in a flat rate box for $5.00 and I combine shipping in favor of the buyer.
