As pictured. Overall aging etc. From France to girlfriend back home. Sadly it wasn't to be. I have typed the letter below for easy reading, and the tragic ending. Please check my other .99c no reserve auctions. Thank you. France May 7 1918Dear Lillian,Just time to say hello! and goodnight. Still in the trenches and no telling when we will be relieved. Belive I told you I coughed(?) on gas from one of Fritze's bombardments last week. That makes twice now he nearly got me with that stuff. Put me on my back for a couple of days or so the last time, but as I got my mask on before I got more than one good sniff, and got treatment almost at once, I am nearly as good as new and will be in three or four days more. Have to get some signal rockets and flairs and -Next pagebeat it. It is raining and thundering in great shape. Guess the Lord is trying to drown the noise of our guns and the Huns. They are all roaring together so you could guess the noise. This is a good night for Fritz to try to open a supprise attack so must best it out. Do not need a thing and am O.K.
