RARE 1920 NORSE FAIRY TALES ILLUSTRATED UK EDITION GIFT Description: WE ARE CURRENTLY SELLING elements from a HUGE collection of rare early fairy tale and fantasy works. Please examine our other listings. AUCTIONED HERE is a very rare British first edition, Norse Fairy Tales, Selected and Adapted from the Translations of Sir George Webbe Dasent . Published by George Routledge & Sons Limited, London. No date, but thought to be approximately 1920. Beautifully bound in decorated chromolithograph prints on paper. This kind of binding is notoriously fragile, and as this was a children's book, very few copies have survived. There is a 1927 gift inscription. 463 pages. 8x5 inches, with the edge wear seen in the picture. Beautifully illustrated by Reginald L. Knowles and Horace J. Knowles. Stories include Jack and the Troll, East of the Sun and West of the Moon, Reynard Tastes Horseflesh, Jack and his Brothers, The Twelve Wild Ducks, too much to list. VERY scarce. We note a dealer asking $400 for his copy.
