BEFORE BIDDING, email us your city, state, and zip code for an exact shipping, handling and insurance quote. This classic nightstand was sold by the famous B. Altman Co. in New York during the 1920s. T he underside bears the original 1920's metal emblem (photo below). The drawer fronts are made of solid flaming mahogany. The dimensions are: 29 inches tall 17 inches wide 15 inches deep Seen in the photos below, the corners of the table top, curve with the shape of the curved cylindrical legs. This is a characteristic sign of the beautiful style of Sheraton furniture. The front apron of the nightstand has an inverted shell carving with leaves flowing gently upwards. Dust panels prevent items in the lower drawer from getting caught when the top drawer is opened. The back and sides of the nightstand are beautifully finished mahogany. Typical of Thomas Sheraton's designs this nightstand is of moderate scale with slender forms and straight legs with complex surface details. The brass hardware on the drawers are original to the piece. These drawer handles are known as "bat's wing" with bail handles are common to the Sheraton style. The inside bottoms of each drawer is completely finished in dark wood finish. Also they taper at the back edges for easy removal and insertion.(photos below).
