It is appealing, desirable, & highly collectible. This rare tin litho sign was distributed by the Hotel & Restaurant Employees' International Alliance & the Bartenders' International League of America. This sign was to be proudly displayed on the premises. The gold seal of the Hotel & Restaurant Employees' International Alliance ( H&REIA) & the Bartenders' International League of America (BILofA) is featured on this old union sign. This old sign has an appealing style & design reminiscent of the day. It reads, Hotel & Restaurant Employees' International Alliance & the Bartenders' International League of America Affiliated With the American Federation of Labor Recognizes This Bar as a Union Bar and Worthy of the Support of Organized Labor". The facsimile signatures of the General President & Secretary Treasurer are displayed on the bottom. This sign is tin over cardboard. The back of the sign states that the sign is Union property & it gives the rules & stipulations to display this sign. This sign has a registration number that is unique to each member establishment. This sign is numbered 73832. This number was registered to only one bar & could only be displayed by that particular establishment. This historical sign of the early days of the American labor movement is in great shape. This sign does show vintage wear, as shown in the photos, but it displays well. No attempts to clean it have been made. The colors are bright & vibrant. There are no unacceptable scratches or nicks. There is no paint loss or flaking. The original chain is oxidized. There are some stains & discoloration to the cardboard back. These issues do not detract from the overall appeal & desirability of this sign. This sign measures 11" x 6.125".
