1920s (B1) 102 Desk Telephone & Ringer Box This classic Western Electric telephone is an outstanding original example of the (B1) Western Electric 102 and has been restored, made modular and is fully functional on today's phone lines. The telephone was completely dismantled, stripped and cleaned. Then professionally powder coated with a new black glossy finish. The Western Electric 102 round based telephone was only manufactured for about 2 years in the late 1920s and is getting difficult to find. It was one of the transitional sets between the candlestick phone and the 202 oval based phones. This is not a reproduction! It has all original Western Electric electrical components. I take great pride and care in restoring these vintage phones and replace a part only if absolutely necessary. A new cloth covered handset cord and cord between the telephone and ringer box were installed. A modular cloth line cord has also been installed between the ringer box and the wall jack. It will work on today’s modern phone lines. Check with your dial tone line provider but the vast majority will accept pulse/rotary dialing. Its ready to plug in and use! New felt has also been installed on the bottom of the phone. The E1 handset is the older more desired seamless type with no cracks or chips. It does have a F1 transmitter capsule for superior voice transmission. The sound quality on both the transmitting and receiving is excellent. The #4 dial is highly desirable due to its loud The numbers on the porcelain dial face are still crisp and clear with only very minimal wear.(see picture above) Original TErrace 2-9016 number card. The ringer box has been upgraded to the anti-sidetone type with a 101A induction coil. Using all original vintage Western Electric parts this upgrade improves the sound quality. Incoming calls can be heard loud and clear with that distinctive sound of brass bells ringing. I thoroughly enjoy and take great pride in restoring these classic telephones. I make every effort to keep them as close to original as possible. The only non-original parts on this phone are the cords. They are all high quality reproduction cloth cords and look and function like the original ones. Since it was only manufactured for about 2 years (1928-1929) the Western Electric 102 telephone is becoming harder and harder to find. This one has been thoroughly cleaned, tested, and restored to its original look. It works and looks much like the day it was first installed by the Bell System in the 1920's. It is a highly collectable vintage telephone and should only increase in value. This phone displays exceptionally well!
