Hi: Up for auction is a beautiful, bright and shiny 1921 Gillette Richwood Safety Razor Set date code 434509A. This is one of the rarely seen illustrations of the 1920's Gillette's "New Improved" line of 3 piece safety razors.The set includes the heavier, and thicker triple silver plated double edge razor, the gorgeous "mahogany" like wood case and a shiny silver blade holder.The razor has a nice feel with its 77 gram weight and its overall length of 3 1/4". It also possesses a mirror like shine and beautiful luster throughout and looks great for a shaving tool of 93 years of age. When used with the proper new double edge blade, this razor will provide a close and comfortable shave to most any type of beard. Aside from a few of the usual tiny contact and age marks, the only thing worth mentioning are a few minute scratches that are very hard to see. There is a tiny nearly invisible crack near the top of the handle. It was so small I could not see it until I went over it again with a magnifying glass. These were so common in these type of razors; but, I actually thought this one was totally free of that because it is so tiny.This razor is extremely nice and a wonderful piece of Gillette's seldom seen post WWI "NEW AND IMPROVED" shaving history.
