This is a 1923 Amplion Type AR 19, 'Standard Dragon' loud-speaker by Alfred Graham & Company, of Crofton Park, London S.E.4.It is a horn loud-speaker with cast metal neck, sectioned oak petal design flare held together with metal ribs. The 2000 ohm drive unit is fitted with an adjusting knurled knob that moves the magnet system 'away from' or 'towards' the diaphragm for optimum performance. It carries a BBC approval stamp on its underneath. An ohmeter idicated 2.12 kohm on the drive unit and a The speaker base is weighted nickel plated brass with its underneath covered in good condition baize.Due to the fragility of the wooden petals, the majority of these speakers have been damaged. This is a particularly exceptional example with a flare in a nearly mint condition. A truly beautiful example of this iconic speaker for the discerning collector of early radios and speakers.Prepared to ship worldwide.
