This 1923 Atwater Kent Model 4550 Breadboard Radio came from the estate of a longtime radio repairman. It is said that he stripped the board of all tuners, coils, and tube bases and refinished the top of the board, then reassembled it to its original condition. The set was purchased in the early 1990's. It was electronically rebuilt in 1998. (The technician's bill is included). The radio then played well and all of the stations in the St. Louis area were tuned in loud and clear. The set sat idle for 10 years because of the owners illness. It still plays well with just a short wire antenna. The winding wire on the middle R-F coil is unraveled and is taped down to prevent further unwinding. The battery cable is in good condition and clearly marked for reconnecting to the power supply. The inspection and warranty tags are still attached to the bottom of the board. The pink model # tag is included but not attached to the board. The bakelite parts on the board are all in excellent condition, and the set itself is in nearly original condition. The power supply is made from a kit sold by antique electronic supply and is included with the radio. The set will be professionally packed, insured, and shipped by UPS.
