Original 1923 etching by British artist Dame Laura Knight, "Merry Go Round".Signed and dated in pencil along bottom "1923" and "Laura Knight".Once exhibited at Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha Ne, see tag on old backing. Sold as found in old matting, no frame.Adhered to matting with tape along the top edge only.There is a darkening to the paper in the border area.The image itself did not suffer this darkening and the paper remains a creamy white.Feeling the edge of the paper it is still quite stiff and strong,it doesn't appear to have deteriorated or become brittle, it's just gotten darker.The back side of the paper has horizontal lines of this same darkening,it was once backed with old cardboard. Some small stains at bottom of matting.Sold as found, see detailed photos.Image itself is 7 3/4" wide, 10 7/8" tall.Paper is roughly 10 3/4" wide, 14" tall.Matting is 14 7/8" wide, 20" tall.From Wikipedia:Dame Laura Knight, DBE RA RWS (1877 – 1970) was an English artist who worked in oils, watercolours, etching, engraving and drypoint.
