1924 Diaz Cigarettes Walter Johnson #1 PSA Poor 1. In the long and illustrious career of the Kansas fireballer named Walter Johnson 1924 was the pinnacle of his career. His 23-7 record elevated his Senators to become World Champions! The man's portrait graces literally dozens of collectibles from small tobacco insert cards to post cards, premiums and special promotions offering a multitude of products. Offered is an extremely rare 1924 Diaz Cigarettes card of the "Big Train" which ranks as one of his rarest collectibles. The Diaz series of 136 (as advertised) players showcased the men who made the mound their home. Many of these players had major league experience in the US despite the exclusive circulation of this series in Cuba. The undisputed key entry is card #1 the great Walter Johnson. The 1-3/4" x 2-1/2" cards are scarcely ever made available to modern hobbyists. There is a complete lack of any surface loss and one brief corner crease in the top right. This example has been graded PSA Poor 1 for the paper adhered to the reverse and the cancellation punch which fails to greatly detract from the visual enjoyment of this extremely difficult card. A grand total of only 81 Diaz cards have been graded by both SGC and PSA to date and this card is one of only two W. Johnson examples graded by both services! This card, and the only
