This Remington No. 1 portable typewriter was manufactured by the Remington Typewriter Company in April of 1925. It is finished in high gloss black paint and, as you can see in the pictures, is in good cosmetic condition for it's age. It is in good condition mechanically as well as all the keys strike, the carriage moves, the bell rings, and most importantly it types! The Remington portable was first introduced in 1920, had a gear-locking typebar mechanism, a red and black typewriter ribbon, and a four-row QWERTY keyboard. If you aren't familiar with the Remington Portable, the typebars need to be raised by a knob on the right hand side of the machine. To type, the knob gets pushed towards the typewriter (it tends to be a little stiff sometimes) and then when you're done typing and/or wish to put the typewriter in the carrying case, the knob gets returned to the position away from the carriage, and the typebars slowly fall as the knob is pulled. This design allowed the typewriter to be one of the most portable typewriters of its time.Once purchased, this typewriter will be packaged with care and shipped immediately via FedEx, UPS, USPS.
