March 11, 1929 crash cover mailed at San Francisco, CA and delayed in delivery to New York City, NY, when it crashed in a snowstorm just outside of Park City, Utah. It was carried aboard an airplane going from San Francisco, CA to Chicago/BAT - CAM18 when it crashed and burned near Park City, Utah at 7:30 pm on March 11, 1929. The pilot, R.T. Freng, survived the crash. The cover was forwarded from Salt Lake City after application of the following PURPLE CACHET:AIRMAILDamaged in Plane CrashAt Park City, Utah 3-11-29C F Dutton, P.O. InspCover is franked with 5-cent red and blue "Plane and Beacon", with San Francisco, CA(Mar 9, 1929) postmark.
