This is a cute lot of three vintage 1930s to 1940s New Orleans souvenirs in the form of two MADE IN JAPAN all bisque dolls with original clothes and a wood and metal painted Mammy bell with original clothes. All three of these souvenir items are in very good to near excellent condition. These cuties are being listed on Mardi Gras, in honor of this great tradition from New Orleans, Lousianna. The first doll is a real winner. He is 4" tall, all bisque and marked on the back: MADE IN JAPAN. He has a very dark chocolate color with two out of three inserted braided tufts of hair in tact with their original yellow bows. This cutie pie has large painted white irises with large black pupils for eyes, and a tiny dab of red on tiny lips. He has a great molded face with very chubby cheeks a molded top knot on his head and a cute little pug nose. He is jointed at the shoulders and legs. His arms have bent elbows and t are tiny molded fingers in a fist. He wears an original bright red full gatd skirt with New Orleans embroidered on it in black. T are also yellow chain embroidery stitches near the hemline. He wears his original flannel diaper underneath with original brass tiny safety pin. This doll has 100% paint in tact with no paint rubs off the face, one tuft of hair is cut and t is some light scratches on the back of the head. This doll dates to the late 1920s to early 1930s era. He has the cutest molded toes. The second all bisque doll is 3 3/4" H and is also jointed at the shoulders and hips. This doll is late 1930s early 1940s. It is also marked MADE IN JAPAN on the back. The mold is similar to the one above, but it is smaller and thinner. They eyes are painted similarly. This doll has all three real top knots of hair missing, one paint rub off his right cheek, but other than that, he is very good. He wears a red gingham check dress with a rayon red banner that says: SOUVENIR OF NEW ORLEANS. The diaper is rayon. Both bisque dolls have all their fingers and toes in tact with no cracks or hairlines in their bodies or heads. The last item is a silver bell with lead weight underneath the Mammy's wonderfully crisp skirt of red checks on white. The upper body is the handle of the bell, and the head is painted wood. She has a bright red head scarf, painted side glancing eyes, two white dots for nostrils, beautifully glossy red lips on a heart shaped mouth. Her cloth arms have black felt mitten hands. She has an organdy apron that has straps around the neck and a waist sash that ties at the back. The bell has a nice tone to it. T is a little rust on the bell. Check out my other items !
