1930/40s PEEL MAGHULL Liverpool Dacro top dairy milk bottle Description: A 1930/40s pint milk bottle embossed with PEEL FARM DAIRY CO. - GREEN LANE - MAGHULL . This bottle was sealed with a 44mm ‘Dacro’ top which is similar to the metal crown cap only bigger. There are lugs in the large recess below the bottle lip to aid removal of the metal cap. This type of bottle in uncommon as most dairies continued using the cheaper cardboard disc top closure at the time. When it was used it was generally for premier grades of milk such as Grade A Tuberculin Tested. Cast iron bottle openers were also supplied to customers for the purpose of removing the metal top. On the base of this bottle is embossed J. BARLOW - 139 VAUVHALL RD - LIVERPOOL – this was the bottle agent. A round clock symbol indicates that this bottle was made by FGC Forster Glass Co. of St Helens. Condition: This bottle is in excellent condition.
