1930 Visalia Winter Togs Catalog #25 Visalia Stock Saddle Co., San Francisco, CA This Catalog features Visalia Chaps, Justin Boots, Leather Coats Oregon City shirts, Vests, California Pants, Extra fine Hand Made Silver Bits, Heart Patterned Spurs, Hand Forged Silver Mounted Spurs, Headstalls and Reins. Juan Martarell and his two associates, Alsalio Herrera and Ricardo Mattley, opened the first store of the Visalia Saddle Company in the community of Visalia in 1869. A year after his store opened, Martarell sold the business to David E. Walker, an experienced businessman and promoter who began an extensive advertising campaign to expand the market for the Visalia Saddle Company. Walker was extremely successful in building up the company's trade, especially through his catalogs which brought in a large mail-order business. His D. E. Walker trademark was stamped on every saddle that left the shop, making his name famous wherever cattlemen and riders gathered together.
