This auction is for a very striking and beautiful decorative teapot made by Grindley of Tunstall, Stoke on Trent and dating to the 1930's which is of course, the Art Deco era. It is in cream and white with a range of pansy type flowers in a variety of clours and some gilding to the spout. It is a wonderful design with stylised flowers handpainted in a variety of vibrant colours, together with windmills, it is typical of the Deco period. The handle and spout are nicely moulded, as is the lid. The tea pot is backstamped with the Grindley sailing ship mark and 'Grindley Made in England'. It is in good overall used condition but there are three tiny chips, one to the end of the spout and two on the outer rim of the teapot itself, in my opinion, these do not detract from the overall beauty of the item. There is no crazing nor repairs that I can see, the gilding is slightly worn in places but the paintwork is fresh and vibrant with only a little expected wear.
