This Auction is for a Very Neat older 1930's model or before Dumbwaiter, Rolling Bar, Tea Cart, Tea Trolley or Server From England. The quality of workmanship is very nice in this unusual little cart. It's a "Gold Medal Adap-Table, Dinner Wagon & Table Combined". A quick history lesson for the uninformed. Years ago meals were prepared in the kitchen then taken to the dining room to be served. That's why t are so many buffets, sideboards, servers and such exported out of England & Europe to the US these days. This was the "wagon" or cart used to take the food from the kitchen to the dining area. It could be then be "folded up" so that both shelves were level for serving the food from the serving bowls & tureens to the plates. The finish is in pretty good condition with the usual signs of wear and use for an item of this ones age. The Patina is a medium dark oak. It's made of English Oak & Oak veneers. The mechanism which works the shelves swinging up, out & down all works pretty smooth. As servers this old, it has "flip out tabs" to lock the shelf in the "up" postion. You just turn them out to lower the shelf. As a cart or "dinner wagon", it's 13 3/4" X 27" and 29 1/4" tall. The bottom shelf stands 15 1/4" off the floor and it's about 12 1/8" between the shelves. Upon opening it, it makes out to 23 3/8" X 26" and is 29 5/8" tall. read more
