During the 1930s and 1940s, General Electric published calendars with artwork advertising the wide variety of their products. They made electrical products ranging from lightbulbs to radios to diesel electric locomotives to electric turbines for warships. GE employed first rate artists to illustrate these calendars. This print was cut from a GE calendar. It's titled: "ELECTRICITY CLEARS THE WAY" and it shows a tugboat passing under a vertical lift bridge. Wikipedia says: A vertical-lift bridge or lift bridge is a type of movable bridge in which a span rises vertically while remaining parallel with the deck. The artist is Walter L. Greene who did many fine illustrations for GE. The picture area measures about 10 x 13 and the print itself is in excellent condition; despite being over 70 years old, both prints show no sign of fading or color shift. This comes from the estate of a GE employee who collected these prints and stored them for decades in his closet. I can ship to you USPS in a cardboard tube for $6.00 I have many, many more prints which I will be selling. If you buy more than 1 print, I can ship up to 3 prints in 1 tube for $6.00 Please check out my other fine General Electric prints.
