VALENTINE SONG. WHEN I PLAY THE PIANO, I'M THINKING OF THEE AND THE PIECE I LIKE BEST IS LOVE'S MELODY MECHANICAL GERMAN VALENTINE. MUSIC THEMED Little girl at piano--upper body and arms move. It looks as if she is really playing the piano.Also her eyes move from right to left.Another really neat mechanical valentine from GermanyHigh quality color, and printing. Due to moving pictures, mechanical valentines came into being—no longer interested in fold-outs which just lay there, Americans sought “MOVING VALENTINES” just as they were in love with the motion picture. So, these are really very connected to the moving picture, as it swept across America, and we all flocked to the theaters.. our main source of entertainment. 4 by 6" These valentines being listed today are in amazing condition considering their age. They are not perfect.. there might be a tiny crease (which I will point out), perfection is not possible too often with paper valentines. They were sent, received, and they were handled. I am suspicious when a valentine is perfect. So please understand if you are new to paper, that there is very seldom that perfect "old" valentine. These are from the 1920s and before World War I.
