This is a charming Dessert set comprising 6 pudding bowls and 1 serving bowl, from ABJ Grafton Ware and the mark dates this set from the mid to late 1930's. For your information, the makers are A. B. Jones, Grafton Works (and other addresses), Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, with the trade names Grafton China, Royal Grafton China and subsequently Royal Grafton Bone China Ltd. The Dessert serving bowl is in very good condition indeed with no cracks, chips or crazing to the glaze. It measures approx 23cm diameter (26cm to handle edges) and has good gilding on the outer rim, and is prettily hand painted with yellow foxgloves and other blue and lilac coloured cottage garden flowers. The six dessert bowls are hand painted with smaller versions of the same flowers - each one being charmingly slightly different as the artist has freely painted the flowers and leaves. The six bowls vary in condition as they have obviously been used much more than the serving dish, but the gilding is still good and there are no cracks on any of them. Two bowls have the tiniest chips on the rim - one bowl you have to feel for this as it is hardly visible and the other you can see two little chips on the edge. All the bowls do have crazing , but this only adds to their charm. I will pack the items very well and always send china to UK addresses by recorded delivery read more
