This photograph album measures approximately 11" x 7.75" and contains nineteen photographs relating to SS Nardana. One of these is a postcard which shows the ship passing under Sydney Harbour Bridge. This is dated 20/12/30. In addition there are fourteen photographs which appear to be unrelated. Four show Dutch people in traditional dress and there are seven more shipping photographs, four of a unidentified two funnelled ship which looks to be flying a white ensign (this with a magnifying glass), one of the Cutty Sark and two of other masted vessels. There are two scenic shots and the remaining photograph has been taken from the stern of a ship and is just showing the wake and hovering seagulls. It is in very good condition. SS Nardana was a British Cargo Steamer built in 1919 and owned by the British India Steam Navigation Co Ltd. On the 8th March 1941 when on route from Bombay for London she was torpedoed by U-124 and sunk. 19 crew members lost their lives.
