Road flannel pants from the 1934 Columbus Red Birds, the AA affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. "W Cross" is stitched inside, likely for Ward Cross, a pitcher in the Cards' organization from 1932 to 1935. Pants came from the family of former Cards outfielder and manager Ray Blades, who managed and played for Columbus in 1934 and 1935. I assume Blades wore these pants after Cross departed Columbus. 1934 was Blades' last season as an active player before focusing on managing only in '35.
