For auction is a 1935 Pegasus topper or attachment from Socony-Vacuum. Very good condition - see the picture. It appears to never have been installed and is about as good as they are ever found. This is the second style with the edges rolled over after complaints that the first design was fragile and the sharp edges scratched both paint and the person installing the topper. This is from a group of toppers from the estate of a 1930's Socony Gasoline station owner stored away in a drawer for the past 80 years. Also included is the eighth printing of my booklet "Socony Vacuum License Plate Markers". This 32 page booklet describes and pictures all known original and reproductions of the famous Pegasus license plate toppers. Three new toppers are pictured in this update. Toppers are often misrepresented as originals when they are reproductions. The first reproductions were introduced in the 1960's and the last originals were made in 1941. Sixty-four different toppers from the United States and around the world and period advertising are pictured. If you are going to collect these Pegasus toppers this is a reference that you need for your library. Would make a great present for your family or friend who collects petroleum items.
