You are bidding on a 1935 Zenith Model 6V27 tombstone (or large upright) table radio. This radio is a 6-tube superhet circuit radio - broadcast band (medium wave) and two short wave bands. This radio operates from 6 volts DC. Radios such as this were used in rural areas in the USA before high-line electrification, and could operate from a 6 volt storage battery perhaps charged by a wind turbine (Wincharger) or motor-generator set. Today the set can be operated from a 6 volt gel cell or motorcycle battery with an appropriate charger, or a 6 volt DC 3 amp power supply (most surplus 5 volt linear power supplies can be adjusted to at least 6 volts - that's what I use!) The radio requires an antenna wire - the longer the better. Size is 22.5h x 16.5w x 13d (inches) or 572h x 420w x 330d (mm). The cabinet finish, knobs and grille cloth are all original. The cabinet is solid and shows some wear and scratches in places. T are no veneer chips or lifting. The fragile and often damaged grille area is perfect! The radio presents itself very well indeed. The dial scale is clean with all lettering intact. Check the photos carefully and ask questions! The radio has been electrically restored and works very well. Paper and filter capacitors were restuffed with modern components and resealed in order to preserve the original above and below chassis read more
