This November 25, 1937 menu is the Thanksgiving Day menu from the famous Knickerbocker Hotel in Hollywood Ca.Built in 1923, this hotel was patronized by both the rich and famous - Valentino danced in the Lido room, Marilyn Monroe honeymooned there with Joe Dimaggio. Dick Powell, Mae West, Betty Davis, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley - to name just a few - were all hosted by this hotel. The hotel had a dark side. Beatrice Houdini held her 10th and final seance on the roof, trying to to contact her dead husband. Irene Gibbons, a designer, slashed her wrists and jumped out of an 11th floor window, supposedly out of love for Gary Cooper. Frances Farmer, a famous actress in her day, was dragged kicking and screaming from her room at the hotel wrapped in a shower curtain, and taken to a mental hospital. The hotel is said to be haunted. Houdini didn't appear at the seance given by his wife, but others have appeared through the years. Valentino has been seen in the bar area, Marily Monroe has been sighted in the restroom. The menu is made of a gold metalic type paper, and the cover measures about 6" x 5". In faint script on the front cover is "Come on out to California".
