On offer is this rare vintage Knowles Utility Ware Batter Jug & Lid in a lovely rusty orange / butterscotch color. Would also make for a great milk jug, creamer, small pitcher or flower vase. Made in the U.S.A in 1938. Signature horizontal ribbing around the base and around the lid knob. Measurements (approx):7.5" tall x 8" wide (including handle) x 4" thick Holds 5 cups / 2.5 pints Maker's mark stamp on bottom: KNOWLES UTILITY WARE Made in U.S.A. 38-8 Condition: Very nice used, vintage condition. Natural imperfections from manufacturing including thinned spots to the coloring and a few small bumps in the ceramic. Light crazing throughout. Normal signs of use including faint scuffs & scratches, shelfwear & staining to porous foot on bottom. There is a thin crack along the bottom that continues through to the inside. It seem like it's just under the surface, I don't actually feel it when touching it. We tested it to see if it would leak or hold liquid... filled to the top with water overnight which resulted in no leaks! Overall still in great condition for it's age.
