Rare 1939-41 Lionel Prewar 700E 4-6-4 Scale Hudson w/ 700W Tender (DAKOTApaul) This evening I am offering an outstanding collection of Lionel Scale Train items, including a wonderful 700E Engine. These items are late prewar from 1937-41, and are in wonderful original condition (see bottom picture for some of the group - this auction is for the below listed item ONLY ). To see MORE photographs before bidding In my opinion, here is the ultimate Lionel prewar "O" gauge Steam Engine. Mention the New York Central Railroad's "Hudson" locomotive 5344, and most collectors think of this train. Here is the rare late version - 1939-41 (no serial number on frame) - of the Lionel No. 700E Locomotive with its 700W Tender. Black zinc ally die-cast superstructure, nickel plates, rubber stamped "5344" below the windows and on the headlight. 14-1/8". NEW YORK CENTRAL on the tender. Condition on this train is excellent plus - as you can see in the many pictures below (and please There is absolutely NO casting deterioration on any part. Graphics strong. The little valve gear on the right behind and above the steam chest is missing, but in looking at a few later models I'm not sure if that is incorrect. Other than that, I believe you would be hard pressed to find a nicer example of this engine. The Tender looks just as nice as the engine. Great graphics, all original. Clean bottom, wheels and trucks. The engine runs well in both forward and reverse, the whistle on the tender works fine. This will be a great display and investment piece.
