Offered is an amazing piece of history. A road trip sc rapbook diary from Calif ornia to Colorado. This handwritten diary contains pictures and s ketches by the author. This large sc rapbook /diary measures approximately 15 1/2" x 11 " and has 25 pages. Great condition. Original old scotch tape is holding down on two corners of the picture in last photo. The trip begins in S an Francisco on May 29 , 1939 in a car driven by Ross Mc Kenzie of Berkeley, California. Also in the car is his sister, Gail; Louise Willden; and Harriet Murray of San Francisco ( the author of this diary). In San Jose they were entrusted with 6 chickens. 4 to deliver and 2 to eat! In Long Beach they saw a row of battleships and one brazen sailor winked at her! In Los Angeles they saw the brand new and very fancy Union Station and Olvera Street! In Baker they rode in shorts with bare feet out the windows! Las Vegas - A wide open town of quick marriages, divorces and free gambling! Boulder Dam - Next to the Golden Gate Bridge the most awe-inspiring sight one can see! Arizona - The vast desert! Gallup - A thrilling place. Navajo Indians in full dress flood the town, their beautiful jewelry of silver and turquoise glisting! The trip ends in the southwestern corner of Colorado at the gates of Mesa Verde National Park!
