1939 Truetone Stratoscope D941 Pushbutton Deco Tube RadioThis is a 1939 Deco Truetone Pushbutton Tube Radio, Model D-941. This set was made by Belmont, and labeled as Truetone for Western Auto stores. This 10.75 x 7.5 x 5.5 inch (273 x 191 x 140 mm) six tube radio is a beauty to look at with its eye-catching vertical station dial, pushbuttons, wrap around horizontal grille louvers, and side knob tuning. The dial lights up beautifully. It turns on after a brief warmup. The pushbutton station labels are missing from the four small squares above the pushbuttons. There is a crack on the radio's left side which has been carefully glued. The back cover is still attached. Without removing it, I see tubes and more inside. The electric cord looks good. When I turn it on and try to find a station, I only hear static. I couldn't get any AM stations. It might be in need of an antenna. Please keep in mind that those marks are actually very minute; for example, you can judge the size in the photo which shows the front dial to its left.I'd bought this radio for its look and for display purposes only.
