RARELY AVAILABLE 1940s SWISSAIR CHROME ASHTRAY - GLASS LINER - MOUNTED WITH DC3 AIRCRAFT - SIGNED BUHLER Lovely item for the collector of aircraft, 1940s-1950s items or ashtrays ! The base is marked BUHLER. The plane is a DC3 which was flying from the 1930s. It has one propellor blade missing off one of the engines. The logo on the front of the ashtray was used from the 1940s. See photos. The tail has the Swissair red and white cross emblem / flag on the vertical stabiliser. The plane is held in place by a swivel ball mounting - which has some wear to it. Some of the chrome has come off when the plane has been moved to different take-off and landing positions ! The rest of the chrome is marked due to age related wear.... see photos. The ashtray is teardrop shape and measures 7" long x 3.75" wide. The plane is 4.5" long x 6.25" wide. It is 2.25" high off the ashtray. It is held in place onto the ashtray by a screw under the ashtray base. I will separate the plane and plinth from the ashtray to ensure safe delivery. The glass liner is clear on the upper side and frosted on the underside. It is in extremely good condition with slots for 2 cigarettes to rest. One slot has a slight slither off where the liner meets the edge of the chrome. Hardly visible but you can feel it. (I mention this for collectors who like to know of any read more
