I am selling some of the duplicates from my collection. This auction for an original, vintage, 1940/41 "America First" topper. This one is in very good condition. See the pictures for condition. Also included is the eighth printing of my booklet "Socony Vacuum License Plate Markers". This 32 page booklet describes and pictures all known original and reproductions of the famous Pegasus license plate toppers. Three new toppers are pictured in this update. Toppers are often misrepresented as originals when they are reproductions. The first reproductions were introduced in the 1960's and the last originals were made in 1941. Sixty-four different toppers from the United States and around the world and period advertising are pictured. If you are going to collect these Pegasus toppers this is a reference that you need for your library. Would make a great present for your family or friend who collects petroleum items. This is a rare topper that supported the "America First" movement which wanted (for financial and political reasons) to keep the USA out of the war raging in Europe. Socony was a major provider of fuel for the German Army. This came from an estate of a Mobil employee. His daughter indicated the topper had been displayed in a glass enclosed case since 1950. A unique piece of history and a great addition to your collection. read more
