HOMEFRONT MAGAZINE - THE WARTIME (WW II) PUBLICATION OF THE PENNSYLVANIA SLATE BELT - BLUE MOUNTAINS - BANGOR AREA - VOLUME 2, NUMBER 3 FOR EASTER (APRIL), 1943 Homefront Magazine was published in Bangor, PA, during the Second World War from February, 1942 until the Final Issue was released in April, 1946. It was designed to bring news and photographs of home to the servicemen from the Blue Mountain - Slate Belt area, and bring soldiers' news and photos back to home. From an initial press run of only 500 copies with 8 pages, it grew to a circulation of around 8000 with 62 pages, in the 8" x 11" format and printed on coated stock, some with color art covers. Each issue contains news photos from home, pics from overseas, "Fairest of the Month" (great portraits of local girls), some cartoons and much more. Slate Belt historians consider it a challenge to collect the entire set of approximately 50 issues. In this auction, we offer Volume 2, Number 3 for April (Easter), 1943.
