1944 Vintage Press Photo by INTERNATIONAL NEWS. Atlantic City, New Jersey. For the first time in the history of the pageant, three double winners of preliminary events are eligible for the finals of the "Miss America" contest at Atlantic City tonight. They are (left to right) Virginia Warlen (Miss Florida), who won the bathing suit contest on Wednesday and the talent event on Thursday; Miss Birmingham, Alabama (Betty Jane Rase), who won the talent contest on Wednesday and the bathing suit event on Friday, and Miss Washington (Venus Ramey), who won the bathing suit contest on Thursday and talent event on Friday. One of the three may be crowned "Miss America of 1944" tonight.Miss America 1944, the 18th Miss America pageant, was held at the Warner Theater in Atlantic City, New Jersey on September 9, 1944.
