1945 Well Traveled Tokyo Bay Cover--Fwd To USS Springfield At Tokyo Bay

Offered is a useful and interesting USS Springfield, Tokyo Bay cover. Cover originally sent from CINCPAC Adv. Headquarters located at Guam on 6 September 1945. Cover addressed to CINCPAC Headquarters, FPO San Francisco located at Pearl Harbor. Cover received directory service on 10 September and was forwarded to USS Springfield, located at Tokyo Bay. I've seen a lot of Tokyo Bay covers that were philatelic and some that were not, but this is the first forwarded cover to reach Tokyo Bay that I've seen. Cover is franked with a faulted 6-cent transport and has a moderately struck Locy Type 2z cancel. Cover has appropriate docketing showing the transit points the cover took. Cover likely reached the Springfield still at Tokyo Bay in mid to late September.This is a very useful and different Tokyo Bay cover for the advanced collector looking for something a bit more obscure. This would make a great exhibit item.
