Mabuck's Curiosities has a deal for you today. We offer this 1946 one quart milk bottle from Chesterbrook Farm in Berwyn, PA. This bottle is clear w/ distinct lettering, although the "FA" in "Farm" is flatter and not as pronounced as the other letters. T is scratching and scuffing on this bottle with some scratches being severe enough to dig into the glass. T are two small chips on the outside rim of the top, and a tiny "chiggerbite" chip right underneath them on the upper neck. T is lettering at the bottom rim that says "Registered", and on the bottom are the letters "E 46" and a ring that looks like a pontil mark. If you have any questions, please ask before bidding.I have not been able to find any mention of other Chesterbrook Farm bottles online, so I believe this one may be hard to find. Chesterbrook Farm was owned by Alexander Johnston Cassatt who was the 7th president of the Pennsylvania Railroad. His sister was the famous painter, Mary Cassatt. Cassatt bought the 600 acre farm to breed thoroughbred racehorses, but it was also used to breed superior cows, steers, and sheep. The farm became home to families of herdsmen, trainers, farm managers, and mechanics. The great era of Chesterbrook Farm died out in the 1920's, but the farm was kept alive as a dairy farm until the death of Mr. Cassatt's daughter-in-law in 1962. A great read more
