Outstanding wartime ticket stub for Game 7 to the 1946 World Series at Sportsman's Park in St. Louis. The series between the Cardinals and Red Sox was a tight one and it was decided on one of the more famous plays in World Series history. Trailing 2-1 Boston scored two runs in the top of the 8th to tie the game. In the bottom of the inning Enos Slaughter began the inning with a single but two outs later remained on first St. Louis' hopes fading. With two outs Harry "The Hat" Walker stepped up to the plate and lined a single to center field. Slaughter off at the crack of the bat made a "mad dash" around the bases rounding third as the relay came in to shortstop Johnny Pesky. Slaughter ignored the third base coach's stop sign and continued toward home. For whatever reason Pesky hesitated and his throw came in too late to catch Slaughter sliding home. His "Mad Dash" put the Cardinals ahead and they would retire the Red Sox in the top of the 9th to win the game and the Series. THe stub is attractive and clean some light corner rounding the primary flaw. An outstanding historically important World Series ticket.
