This nice antique 40's style Gillette Super Speed double edge safetyrazor has no date code, but does not have the notched post.This would put the date of manufacture sometime in 1947 and would also make this SS one of the first of its kind. The very popular Super Speed series were first produced in 1947 when Gillette resumed civilian production after World War II and are descendants of the pre war Ranger Tech's. This razor is in perfect working and shaving condition some 61 years later and should continue to work a lifetime with proper care. I would say this razor is in very good condition and shows little of the dings and scratches common to a 60+ year old razor. The only flaws would be some minor scuffs on the silo doors, some light brassing and "fish scaling" on the TTO knob, some small areas of brass showing at each corner of the safety bar and a small light colored area on one silo door which should show in the front view photo. None of which will affect the shave of this classic Gillette razor. The remainder of this clean ready to shave razor shines very nicely.
