Up for auction is a 1949 B&W Picture of the 5001st Air Police SQDN. Ladd AFB Alaska. The picture came rolled up from a very old vets estate. The picture if sold, will be shipped in a cannister. T are no tears in the photo. T are a couple of small crinkles. The picture is in very good shape no stains, tears etc. The picture is 39 and 1/2 long and 10 inches high. T are 134 Air Policemen pictured with 2 prop bombers in the background. Most of the men are wearing US Army rank insignia. A few have the Air Force rank insignia. They have Sam Brown belts on and white spats over their boots. The glare on the picture is from sunlight conditions on the glossy photo. I had the flash off but it is very glossy and made the white reflections. The picture looks like it was developed yesterday. T IS NO GLARE OR WHITENESS ON PHOTO, IT LOOKS GREAT. The dark shadow on the bottom to the right on photo, it is the guy taking the picture you can see his outline and the cameras. The writing on the bottom states: Ladd Air Force Base - Alaska. June 21st 1949. CAPT Ralph Casey - Commanding. 5001st Air Police SQDN. The picture appears to be between the transition period: US Army Air Corp/ US Air Force because of all the US Army Insignia. Most have MP arm bands on left arm, a few have AP armbands. On the back, it is stamped: Photo by National Photo & News Service- read more
