Rare 1949 San Francisco SEALS Goodwill Baseball Tour of Japan Souvenir Program -- Gen. Douglas MacArthur US 8th Army approved trip: Camp Drake, NCO Clubs & morePlease review pictures provided:This program is intact, but it is very brittle. It need to be handled with care and stored well from now on or it will be destroyed. As you can see - the edges/and pages around the edges are having pieces that have came off. The damage on the bottom left affects many of the pages in the book. On the color pages (front cover) and inside the color is good. The articles/great advertisements etc. are good.Great articles about the American Teams, Great write-ups on the Japanese teams (in Japanese writing). There are 10 scorecards inside (clean not used) as there were 10 games on the scheduled trip.After the 1949 PCL season, the Seals embarked on a good will tour of Japan, playing 16 games in various places in Japan, including a game in Tokyo. Among the players on the trip were Lew Burdette (shown above at the left), Brooks Holder (shown above on the right), Con Dempsey, Jim Moran, Jim Westlake, and Dario Lodigiani. The team was primarily made up of San Francisco Seals, but there were a few major leaguers. There were twenty players that made the trip. Even Lefty O' Doul played in a couple games. The Japanese loved O'Doul calling him "O'Doul-San." read more
