1950 Estey Pump Organ Factory Vacuum Unit- RARE - This a VERY RARE internal Estey factory vacuum unit from a 1950 Estey Modernistic 5 octave organ. The organ had 2 sets of reeds plus couplers. The unit works very well, is very quiet and has more than adequate supply. It attaches directly to the foundation board from beneath, you turn it on and you are ready to play! The organ was playing well when removed, but the birch case was shot and the stop knobs were missing. Finding replacement Modernistic stops proved to be an insurmountable task as they are early white plastic knobs that are mushroom shaped. The unit is 24" high, 13 inches wide and 12 inches deep. It would fit more than neatly in any common pump organ bellows cavity. It has what appears to be a World War II era motor if the army drab paint is any indication. It has a number of information plates on the front with a whole host of information. I would have to remove the motor from its mounts to see all that, but I am loathe to do that. I replaced one of the motor mounts that was missing. It's probably a 1/6 or 1/8 horsepower motor or tabouts. The fan is quite immense so the motor must have some guts. I don't know the inches of vacuum, but it played that 2 set action with couplers on and room to spare. I'll bet it would support 3 sets of reeds. The bizarre looking thing read more
