This is an original vintage fifties design American advertising poster for the famous 19th & 20th century New England bicycle company, Columbia. Columbia was originally founded in 1877 by Colonel Albert Pope and established itself as a premier bicycle manufacturer that became known as America's First Bicycle, in Westfield , Massachusetts , in Hampden County. The poster is entitled "Columbia Torpedo, Sleek Good Looks at Moderate Price". It is a beautiful brightly colored fifties poster showing a photo or photograph of 2 teens on their spiffy new Columbia Torpedo bicycles: a new blue Torpedo for women or girls, and the Red Torpedo for men or boys.They have typical fifties look, vintage clothing, him in white socks and penny loafers, herin a shorts outfit. They look to be in florida, possibly at a golf course, with yachts and boats in the back, tropical location. I have had this poster in my collection for 15 years, as well as the other one which is up for auction now too.
