A stunning and rare solid 9ct gold Vintage 1955 J.W.Benson / Smiths Tropical gents watch in excellent original condition and good working order.. The 3 part fixed wire lug case was made by Dennison for Benson.(Dennison were the top case maker during this period and made cases for Omega,Rolex,Waltham benson etc)..Hallmarked for Birmingham 1955 and signed inside the back by J.W.Benson..The case is in excellent condition with no dents..Clean clear lens..Fitted with a clean lightly used period leather strap.. Stunning original 2 tone Art Deco style dial with subsecond register,painted numerals and original Paint filled blue steel hands..Signed by J.W.Benson of London and marked with Made In England below the 6..The dial is in excellent original condition.. The movement is a top of the range Smiths (Jaeger Le Coultre style) with the extra jewel fitted to the centre wheel to make a jewel count of 16..These movements were made by Smiths for J.W.Benson and are known as the "Tropical" movement..The movement is in excellent condition and working order.Winds and sets smoothly,runs well and keeps time..Fully signed by J.W.Benson.. A superb collectable classic gents Vintage English gold watch from 1955..Excellent original condition and good working order...Circa 1955...The case measures..31mm diameter(excluding winder)..
