Up for auction is an adorable 8" (actually 7 1/2") Hard Plastic NANCY ANN "MUFFIE" doll from 1955. She is a rather rare special version of Muffie dressed as "DAVY CROCKETT". She is marked on her back "STORY BOOK DOLLS CALIFORNIA MUFFIE." She is a fairly tightly strung doll and is in very good condition from what I can see. Due to the stiff condition of the Davy Crockett outfit, I had never removed the clothing from Muffie, until I took the photo. I only then removed the jacket so I do not know how the rest of her body and legs look. I was afraid to take the pants off since they looked like they were so stiff and conformed to the shape of her body. I can speculate they are fine, but it is just a judgement based on the condition of her arms, upper torso, and head which are all in great condition. She is a straight-legged walker and she does turn her head when she walks. Everything seems to work perfectly with her walking mechanism. She is a real sweetie and in very good condition for a 58 year old doll! I found her picture on page 145 of the book: "Small dolls of the 40's & 50's" by Carol J. Stover. She is wearing the same exact outfit as in the photo - a "two piece fringed suedecloth costume with brown leather belt and a brown fur cap, and brown vinyl side-snap shoes." Muffie, who has always been my favorite 8" doll, is so sweet looking read more
