All are narrated by long time radio voice of the Braves Earl Gillespie, and he describes the action from old County Stadium in Milwaukee as well as from other long-gone ballparks throughout the league, including Connie Mack Stadium, Crosley Field, Seals Stadium, The Coliseum, Forbes Field and old Busch Stadium, St. Louis ! These were truly the “glory years” of baseball in Milwaukee , as the Braves led the MAJORS in attendance five consecutive years and set a new National League record with 2,215,404 for a single season in 1957! The club won two pennants, a World Championship, and just missed two more pennants by only a game each season! “ Bravesland , U.S.A. ” covers the Braves’ heartbreaking loss of the 1956 pennant at St. Louis on the final weekend of the season, the Opening Day 6-0 whitewash of the Cubs, home runs by Braves players throughout the season, batting practice at County Stadium and great scenes of the ballpark as it looked in 1956. Throughout, you’ll see great close-up and action shots of all the players. Young 22-year old Henry Aaron is featured as “a boy who has a bright and promising future in baseball”, and scenes of Hank smacking out hits and homers make this an outstanding look at the future slugger during his early years in the majors. “Hail To The Braves!” is a salute to the World Championship team of 1957. It covers the season, both at home and on the road, as the greatest team in Milwaukee baseball history drives to its first of two consecutive pennants and victory over the New York Yankees for Milwaukee ’s only baseball World Championship! This DVD shows the club in spring training in Bradenton and the home opening win vs the Cincinnati Reds. Follow the team to the Polo Grounds and Ebbets Field for the last time before the Giants and Dodgers move west for 1958! Great COLOR shots of both the Braves and their opponents banging the ball into the stands of these old ballparks which are now only a memory! “Pride Of The Braves” covers the Braves’ 1958 pennant-winning season through the eyes of one of baseball’s all-time greatest pitchers, Warren Spahn. Beginning with scenes at spring training and continuing throughout the year, the film shows baseball action of Opening Day (Spahn vs the Pirates’ Bob Friend), the westward expansion of baseball with trips to The Coliseum and Seals Stadium, where the Braves win one of the wildest games of the year (Spahn himself drives in the winning run in the 12 th inning)! This DVD contains the best COLOR shots ever filmed of baseball action at Seals Stadium! The clinching of the pennant, this time at old Crosley Field in Cincinnati , sends the Braves on to another World Series!! A year later the Braves tied the Dodgers for the N.L. pennant, and in the film “The Fighting Braves Of ‘59” , the Braves are shown clinching a tie on the last day of the season vs the Phils at Milwaukee . Highlights of the post-season series vs the Dodgers are shown, both at County Stadium and in L.A. Then the film digresses back to spring training and the search for a second baseman (Schoendienst is out for the season with TB) , the season opener at Forbes Field (Eddie Mathews’ home run is the first of 46, as he is beginning his greatest season), and another trip to Seals Stadium during the pennant stretch run (nice shots of young N.L.
