This item is medal or token produced in 1957 to celebrate the long history of the H. J. Heinz Company, which dates to 1869, when Henry J. Heinz began his company on a very small scale in Sharpsburg, Pennsylvania (explaining the keystone design in the company logo!). One side (first photo) features the bust of Heinz, with the full name of the company along the upper edge and the dates 1869-1957 along the lower edge. To the left of the bust are the words H. J. HEINZ FOUNDER . The other side has the company's keystone design enclosing the words OUR BEST TO YOU IN 1957 and IT'S ALWAYS 57 FOR GOOD EATING . Measuring approximately 1-1/4" in diameter, this item is composed of an unidentified silver-toned metal (quite bright!). There is no manufacturer's mark. This token is in fine to almost uncirculated condition, with light signs of handling, and it remains a bright silver color. There is very limited light soiling. This item was well-struck, and all of the lettering remains bold. The illustrations in this listing are photos of the actual item being offered for sale. PLEASE NOTE: This item is lighter in color and remains much brighter than evident in the photos. Payment must be received within ten days of close of auction.
