1957 was the first year Rawlings presented Gold Gloves to baseball's best defensive players, and the only season minor leaguers were singled out for the honors. This trophy - awarded to catcher Johnny Blanchard - is in EX condition with slight wear and minor tarnishing to the figure and gold plate on which the glove rests. The glove reads: "MINOR LEAGUE ALL-STAR FIELDING TEAM", while the gold plate reads: "1957 RAWLINGS SILVER GLOVE AWARD C JOHN BLANCHARD MINOR LEAGUE ALL-STAR FIELDING TEAM". Blanchard won two World Series crowns with the New York Yankees (1961-62), the team with whom he played the majority of his career. During the 1961 fall classic, he batted .400 with a couple of home runs.
